This darling girl, Katy.

I met this lovely fairly recently, and she is a treasured soul.
We spent the afternoon eating Chinese, listening to the rain on the roof, watching Charade, and soaking in the coziness of this lazy fall day.
Singing harmony, being barefoot, and smiling eyes are three small joys that make her heart smile.

Meet Katy...

Psalm 121

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Fall of 2013

Re: Stacks by Bon Iver on Grooveshark

It was a foggy morning a few weeks ago and I was driving home after visiting a friend. I started out taking the backroads only to avoid construction, but it turned out to be a beautifully unintentional photographing adventure! The trees were nearly at their peak of fall color, and the fog just added to the fall splendor.

So here are some photos to show how I perceive the beauty in valleys and on the ridges of Southwest Wisconsin.

Soon...

So far this fall has been mostly sunny and warm, and I've loved every minute of it! However, I am greatly looking forward to the crisp bite in the air, wearing cozy clothes, and sitting in front of the wood stove to watch the flames dance. So for now, here are three photos I shot on film that remind of what's coming. <3

Fall in Wisconsin

This has been one of the most memorable fall seasons I have experienced in a long time. We've had b e a u t i f u l, sunny days with highs in the 70's and cool, crisp nights. With the change of seasons there has also been some changes in my life. Despite how crazy it can all seem, life is still good- and even more importantly, God is still good. I can't imagine life without Him in my life, and I love that I keep on learning more about Him and continue to draw closer.

I went out with my camera a couple times last weekend to capture some of the color and beauty in the part of Wisconsin I live in. Here are some of those photos...

It's a cool + rainy fall day. I'm sitting in Starbucks editing photos I snapped a few days ago when I was out in the woods.

Tonight I'm going with some friends to see the one and only Bon Iver. (see song above)
I am SUPER excited! It should be a great show.

Changing seasons

I took this last year at Devil's Lake State Park. Because this month has been so crazy I haven't really got out much to take fall-time photos. Now most of the leaves have turned and fallen.

Exactly one week from today one of my best friends will be getting married! I'll be shooting her wedding, which I'm pretty stoked about. We've been living together since June and I'm kind of sad that I'm moving out next week (where did the last 5 months go?!), but she's starting a new chapter of her life. I'm so excited and happy for her!

Hopefully next month things will slow down and I won't be quite so busy. Maybe I'll be able to do my one-blog-post-a-week plan like I originally intended. ;]

First day of fall

Pumpkins & gourds

It's been a good day.
My good friend Frida is visiting from Germany. We spent the morning and afternoon drinking coffee, eating flavorful vegetables ("weggies" ;) ), searching small shops for treasures and walking about. The weather has been wonderful! The clouds have been so varied and are constantly changing... they sure are beautiful.

Perfect weather on the first day of fall

I've officially broken out my tights, boots and scarves. One of the things I love about fall is how I can wear so many layers and be a bit more creative with my wardrobe. Today's outfit was fairly simple, but comfy.

Other things I love about fall:
The leaves change into brilliant colors of red, orange and yellow. Candles add a lovely glow on those cloudy, dreary days. A hot cup of coffee, tea or apple cider will always warm your bones. You can curl up with a good book and bury yourself under a heap of blankets.

What are your favorite things about fall?
